Summer has wound down over most of the country, with the exception of the Bay Area where we are experiencing our typical “October Summer” with highs in the 80s. I thought it would be a great time to write about an experience I had over Fourth of July weekend this past summer when I had the opportunity for the second time to take a beer dinner rafting trip down the Tuolumne River in Northern California with the good folks at O.A.R.S. They are an incredible rafting and kayaking company that run trips all over the world from one day to several nights. This Beer Dinner trip was a three-day/two night trip just outside Yosemite National Park.



This trip was special as the 21st Amendment beers I brought on the trip were paired with an amazing menu created for this excursion by Chef Chip Roberts of “The Arnold Pantry” in beautiful Arnold, California. I brought our canned craft beer and being on the river really demonstrates the great thing about canned beer with it’s portability. The menu had it all from the start with a Cypress Grove Creamery cheese plate. It was two days of incredible meals made with great breakfasts and lunches prepared by the OARs staff and dinners by Chef Chip. Just to name a few of the highlights we had House Cured Pork Belly with Tomato Jam, Micro Cilantro, Turmeric Pretzel paired with Back in Black – Black IPA and grilled wild pacific salmon with quinoa Tabouli, cultured butter heirloom beans, preserved lemon puree paired with ‘He Said”- pumpkin beer.





We went on side hikes up out of the river to deep pools with water falls and swimming holes. It’s really hard to describe with words and I urge everyone to sign up for this trip next year.
